Aloha!
I’m back from my lovely vacation in Hawaii (and work trip in Toronto). After a three week hiatus, Velvet Toolbox is back in full effect, yeeehaww!
A couple of months ago, I ordered a gorgeous fabric from Avenue Design and had them construct a roman shade for the window above our kitchen sink. I came home from Hawaii to a wonderful voicemail letting me know that the roman shade was ready for pickup. Obviously I couldn’t contain my excitement and I made my way to the store within a few hours of landing.
I’m really pleased with how it turned out:

The fabric is a creamy linen, with charcoal grey / nearly black velvet stripes, which blends in perfectly with the backsplash color scheme and pattern.
In nearly 1 year of renovations, I think installing the shade has to be the easiest thing I’ve ever done. We bought some small white L-brackets from Rona, which I then screwed into the back of the roman shade.
I then screwed in the other end directly to the window frame, and voila! That’s it, that’s all folks!
I find that dressing up a window really completes the design of a room.
What do you think?

It’s gorgeous!! Looks so good with the subway tiles. You have a great eye for design and the vision to put it all together… I always have to see it all complete before I “get” it!
Mel, I have a sample of that fabric and was thinking of either using it in my kitchen or living room…so funny! Looks stunning!
Really nice choice Mel. Beth is right, it accentuates the subway tiles and it brings it all together.
