Home at Last

Sorry for the delayed post, I have no internet at home (and won’t for the next 2 weeks – gasp!).

My Saturday post:

It’s 5am on Saturday and I’m wide awake.  We moved into our new home just a short 33 hours ago, and I’m so excited that I can hardly sleep.

Day 1 was all about moving boxes to the different rooms of our house (ALL our stuff had been moved in 2 months earlier and stacked up tetris-style in one bedroom), and cleaning/unpacking the kitchen.  My sweet mom helped all day, and the rest of the familia headed over after work to pitch in.  There’s nothing more exciting to kids than an empty home, I learned.  My niece and nephew had an absolute ball, running around the whole house from one empty room to another, then building a fortress out of boxes and lounge chair cushions, and finally serving us virtual coffee and cookies in their newly built lair.

Day 2: KING-size bed arrival. Can you say heaven?  Cuz that’s what it’ll feel like to sleep on a natural latex mattress with a linen upholstered wingback style bed.  Adam and I have been waiting for this day for months.  Seriously.  I can’t tell if we’re happier about the bed than we are for the house.  No more fighting for blankets, no more rolling to the middle of the bed due to sagging coils, no more popcorn jumping effect when one of us turns sides.

We’ll be neck deep in boxes this weekend, but I’ll make sure to post some pics as soon as we have internetzzzz!

Velvet Love: Circa Lighting

Happy Sunday!

I’d like to introduce y’all to an incredible online and retail store for lighting: Circa Lighting.  I’ve seen their fixtures featured in some spectacular rooms via several design blogs and when I found out we were passing through Savannah on our drive back from Florida, I just had to pay them a visit.  And it didn’t disappoint.  In true southern form, the salesperson who greeted us was extremely friendly and helpful.  We learned that they ship anywhere within the US for free, and there’s no sales tax if they ship to NY (Plattsburgh NY would be the closest to Montreal, for us).  We could have it delivered to a shipping warehouse in Plattsburgh (e.g. Freeport Forwarding only charges a $5 storage fee for packages, and $1 for mail) and after a quick 1hr drive, those lights could be mine…all mine!!

Have a look at some of my favorites that I’m considering: (psst…can you notice a trend in the style I like?  I’ve been all about antiqued brass lately…lurve!!!)

Workin Hard on Labour Day Weekend

Hello, from sunny and hot hot hot Florida!  My hubby and I are on a long-awaited vacation, with the goal of  doing a whole lotta nothing.  There’s nothing as good as sitting by the pool, reading a book, and recharging our batteries.  But, being in hurricane season, the pockets of thundershowers have forced us to go indoors every so often, leaving us no other choice but to find something else to do.  Ahem. “Honeyyyyy, can we go shopping? Pleeease?”  No really, the rain is SUCH a shame….
Every trip to Florida is incomplete without a trip to Anthropologie, muahaha.  Look what I found!!

Ikat mini bowl, by Anthropologie I grabbed 10 of these puppies.  Mini bowls with Ikat pattern and gold rim?  Helloooo!

I also got this Rosemary and Mint scented hand soap and cream, perfect for our future powder room!Pure & Good Hand Duo, Anthropologie

And the shopping isn’t over yet…We’ll be leisurely driving back up to Montreal, and our first stop will be in Savannah Georgia.  Adam doesn’t know what he’s in for.  I’ve mapped out our vintage furniture and lighting itinerary – oops!
